This is a small collection of different ideas and thoughts about immersive technologies, about our ability to create new digital worlds and the consequences this has on us as human beings.
We are largely still unaware about how storytelling works in Virtual Reality. I want to look at it from a different perspective and compare VR with literature and imagination.
When it comes to reality we are really talking about our perception. I want to dive a little bit deeper at what this means as it is not only relevant for ones own life but many schools of thought, of philosophy and esoteric deal with these or similar insights. It is also relevant in the context of immersive storytelling and virtual reality because perception is a major toolset that we as designer have.
Art and Science are more often considered enemies than friends, but we have to rethink how we use these labels as they prohibit our ability to create and innovate.
We are used to think about VR as a new fascinating technolgy that can potentially help us in many of our problems. But what about its possiblities makes us grow as human beings?
About Virtual Reality is often said that it is a form of escapism. That people use it to escape from their problems in day to day life. This is a small comment on that subject.
